I'm doing promo work for PSC here at UConn, but there is an extremely disappointing number of fans, so I guess this is my plea for help- if you know anyone that is a PSC fan that goes to UConn, please tell them to join the facebook group "At the Paranoid Social Club We All Fit In." (50 members in the group = PSC coming to Storrs to do a show!) Thanks all!
Cleaning off my old PC drive this weekend I ran across some old PSC/Rocktopus pics. The quality is horrible due to my crappy camera at the time but I thought I'd share anyway. Click on Dave to check out the rest.
Once again, due to lack of chatter and my ultimate goal of keeping this place active, I'm posting mostly for the sake of posting. However, there is a bit of personal PSC news to report. I finally received my promo copy of the new album. "Ok, but the album has been out for quite a while and not only that but you got a promo copy, what gives?" Says you. Well, my thought process is this; I have tha majority of the songs on the new album already being that it's mostly a mix of the independent releases, so there was no big hurry. I also wanted to wait to buy the album at a show because the band makes a little more money that way. Recently however, a promo copy came up for sale on ebay and at a fairly decent price so I figured that would be a good way to hear the two new songs and still be able to justify buying the actual cd at the Metronome show on the 1st. "But why Darek, do we give a rat's ass about any of this?" Ah, well there's another copy from the same seller for sale and I though I'd offer up a link to the auction and a picture for anyone who might be interested.
Click on the picture to go to the auction
Once again I post with little to add except that anyone who is able needs to check out the show at the Asylum on Friday because I can't. I'll be so very close, in Southern NH Friday evening, but then headed south to CT so alas, I'll miss the show. It promises to be fantastical so check it out.
Fri 10/28/2005 9:00 pm - Asylum

Tix will be available at all Bullmoose Music locations.
On the positive side, they rescheduled the Metronome show for Dec. 1st so work will most surely receive an "I'm deathly ill" phone call that night.
It's been awfully quiet in here lately. Here's a link to the PSC review I wrote that ran in the Seven Days entertainment paper here in Burlington. Let me know what you think.
PSC is playing in Unity on September 23rd. I'm thinking this show is going to tie in with the Commongrounds Fair considering that I'm almost positive that that is the same day that the fair begins. I'm not sure if they are playing in the same area as the fair, so hold on while I check.
well it says it is at the Unity College so I'm not sure, but who knows? I've never been to Unity and have no idea the size of the place. For all I know it could be a small place and therefore the commongrounds fair could be apart of the same area. Either way, my ex-girlfriend Maggie is going up there on the 23rd to work for that week at said fair, and therefore yours truly will most definately be at the show. I'm excited as hell to see this show - this is perhaps the last gig that PSC is doing in Maine for a while. We won't see them in October for sure, and so far it looks as though the same will happen in November. They are going to be all over the states in the coming months and we're expecting to see the video for "Two Girls" by next month. Yay!
Yo, for those of you still within radio range of CYY and could use tickets for tomorrow night's show, I just heard today that that after the Top 5 @ 5 today they're giving away 94 pairs of tickets
in 94 minutes
. Then promptly played Save Me. One second, have to scrape the poop out of my pants.
One hundred eighty eight tickets. Damn that's awsome. Anyways, I'll be pulling for them. I'll let you know.
Who hasn't been voting for "Save Me"? Come on...who is ignoring the Top 5@5?
Or don't vote. sheesh.
wait, do vote.
I just saw PSC last night in Orono. Another kick ass show might I say. I've been getting to see them a LOT lately. I'm going to Portland for the CD release party as well. anyone else going to be there or what?
Hi. I'm new.
*While I'm posting stories, here's the entry I wrote about a PSC show back in June. There will hopefully be a similar entry after the Sept. 22nd show at Metronome, enjoy.*

Being that I drove down to NH specifically to see this, one of my favorite bands, I think it goes without saying that I had a damn good time Friday night. We got to the Stone Church in Newmarket just after 9pm, settled in at the end of the bar, did a shot of goldschlager, had a beer, did another shot of some sort that was much less nasty, then drank the beers you see in the picture above. Being that this all took place between just after 9pm and when the band went on at about 10pm, and further given that I don't really drink, I think it again goes without saying that Darek was somewhat soberly impaired, hence the extra goofy smile.
A detailed description of this show would do it anything but justice but I'll share some highlights/lowlights.
( The PSC ShowCollapse )
While I've got some free time here, I'll share a PSC story.
About a year an a half ago, PSC was playing the Stone Church in Newmarket NH. This was before they did their renovations so it was pretty dumpy and had fallen off the radar for most people going out on a Saturday night. That not withstanding, there were quite a few people there, unfortunately they were all lazy bastards and were sitting at the tables that took up most of the floor space in the place. So, the opener finishes and my buddy and I assume the floor in front of the stage will start to fill up once PSC goes on so we inch up to the right front of the stage. We're tall, lanky bastards, so we try not to stand right in the front so that other people can see. A couple of songs in, and it's clear that the crowd is mostly lame. Being that my buddy and I were in school at the time at UNH, between the two of us we "sort of knew" about 60% of the people there so we start yelling at the folks who's names we could come up with. We get about four more people to crowd around the stage and then say fuck it, and go back to rocking out. At the end of the song Dave says something to the effect of, "fine, if the rest of you guys are gonna sit on your asses, I'll play down here with the people who are here to have a fucking good time." He brought his mic stand down in front of us and played the rest of the show from the floor. He rocked out "Pusherman" and "Combustible" with us, jumping around and shit, good time.
We hung out after and had a beer with Dave and Jon and talked about how shitty the crowd was and we tried to convince them that it wouldn't suck so bad next time. The shows have all been far better since they re-did the place and the last show was packed, standing room only. I'm glad we didn't turn out to be liars.
